Astros owner Drayton McLane met with retired second baseman Craig Biggio on Jan. 31 for breakfast, and among the topics discussed was a personal services contract similar to the ones Nolan Ryan and Jeff Bagwell have.
“We just had a little talk, and we’re going to get after it,” McLane said. “He’s going back to New Jersey for some award. He’s received more awards than some generals I know. I told him when he gets back, we’ll sit back and talk about it.”
Bagwell, Ryan and Roger Clemens, the three former stars with personal services contracts with the Astros, all visited with McLane in late January as they participated as instructors at the four-day hitting and pitching camp at Minute Maid Park.
