    Diamondbacks 8, Astros 4 (AP)

Not even Roy Oswalt could stop the Houston Astros’ free fall. Carlos Quentin made amends for an earlier two-base error with a two-run home run and the Diamondbacks beat Oswalt for the first time, 8-4 on Sunday. The Astros lost for the eighth straight time. They have been outscored 66-16 during their longest losing streak […]

    Diamondbacks 5, Astros 4 (AP)

Brandon Webb limited Houston to two runs through seven innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks held on to hand the Astros their seventh loss in a row, 5-4 on Saturday night. Webb (4-3) scattered seven hits, struck out eight and walked one to help the Diamondbacks beat Houston for the third straight game.

Diamondbacks rookie Reynolds has five-hit game (AP)

Matt Reynolds could have hit for the cycle. He just hit the ball too far. The Diamondbacks’ rookie came up in the eighth inning Friday night needing a double to complete the cycle. His shot to right field had a little too much behind it, however, clearing the wall for his second homer of […]

    Diamondbacks 13, Astros 3 (AP)

Ten days after his promotion from Double-A, Mark Reynolds has become Arizona’s most feared hitter. The 23-year-old third baseman homered twice and went 5-for-5 with four RBIs to help the Diamondbacks beat Houston 13-3 Friday night, handing the Astros their sixth straight loss. Arizona tied a club record with eight runs and eight hits in […]

    Diamondbacks 9, Astros 1 (AP)

Rookie Micah Owings struck out a season-high eight in his first complete game, and the Arizona Diamondbacks routed Houston 9-1 on Thursday night, sending the Astros to their fifth straight loss. Chris Snyder homered and Eric Byrnes and Orlando Hudson tripled for the light-hitting Diamondbacks, who had six extra-base hits and matched a season high […]

The Houston Astros on Thursday optioned righthander

Astros call up lefty McLemore (AP)

The Houston Astros called up left-hander Mark McLemore from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday to fortify their bullpen. McLemore, the club’s fourth-round pick in 2002, joined the team a few hours before Thursday night’s game at Arizona. “I’m really excited,” the 26-year-old McLemore said. “Everybody waits for that first call.” McLemore was 0-1 with a […]

Five and Fly: Clearing the bases (Yahoo! Sports)

A few thoughts for a Thursday: Hiram Bocachica and David Eckstein homered in wins last night.

    Giants 9, Astros 1 (AP)

Bengie Molina keeps producing clutch hits for San Francisco, even though he insists he’s still trying to adjust to all the new pitchers in the National League. Molina hit a two-run triple and singled in two runs to help Barry Zito bounce back from an awful outing against his old team last week at Oakland, […]
