    Brewers 3, Astros 1 (AP)

Geoff Jenkins homered and Claudio Vargas pitched out of bases-loaded jams in three straight innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday. Tony Graffanino and J.J. Hardy also had run-scoring hits for the Brewers, who won a three-game series in Houston for the first time since 1997, […]

    Astros 10, Brewers 1 (AP)

Craig Biggio had a triple and three RBIs to help the Houston Astros snap a seven-game losing streak with a 10-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night. Lance Berkman, Mark Loretta and Adam Everett each had two RBIs and the Astros shook out of an offensive slump with their highest run total of […]

Astros call up Pence, bench Burke (AP)

The Houston Astros called up outfielder Hunter Pence from Triple-A Round Rock and benched Chris Burke on Friday night after a loss to Milwaukee. The 24-year-old Pence was batting .341 with three homers and 19 RBIs through 22 games with Round Rock. Pence went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored on Friday night.

    Brewers 4, Astros 1 (AP)

J.J. Hardy’s two-run double off Roy Oswalt capped a three-run seventh inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat Houston 4-1 on Friday night to hand the Astros their seventh consecutive loss. Johnny Estrada homered in the eighth off new Astros reliever Stephen Randolph, helping the Brewers win for the seventh time in nine games.

Astros place RHP White on DL with oblique strain (PA SportsTicker)

Rick White had served as the Houston Astros’ most reliable middle reliever in the first month of the season. But the veteran righthander will not be able to help for at least two weeks due to a strained left oblique muscle.

    Pirates 5, Astros 3 (AP)

Jason Bay’s two-run single in the sixth inning off Wandy Rodriguez gave the Pittsburgh Pirates a 5-3 victory Thursday over Houston and their second three-game sweep of the Astros this season. Barely 12 hours after the Astros left 18 runners on base during a 4-3, 16-inning loss to the Pirates, they stranded 13 and played […]

Astros’ White goes on DL, replaced by Randolph (AP)

Left-hander Stephen Randolph’s contract was purchased by the Houston Astros from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, a day after reliever Rick White was injured warming up in the bullpen during a 16-inning game. White, one of the Astros’ most reliable relievers this season, strained a muscle in his left side while warming up to pitch […]

    Pirates 4, Astros 3, 16 innings (AP)

Adam LaRoche, his average down to .092, grounded a winning single into left field in the 16th inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied after blowing a two-run lead in the ninth to beat Houston 4-3 Wednesday night, the Astros’ fifth consecutive loss. LaRoche had been 0-for-18 at PNC Park before his grounder barely got past […]

    Pirates 3, Astros 0 (AP)

Paul Maholm allowed only three singles in his first career complete game and the Pittsburgh Pirates avoided their longest home losing streak to start a season in 109 years, beating the Houston Astros 3-0 on Tuesday night. Playing only their fifth home game — they lost their first four — the Pirates got their best-pitched […]

    Phillies 11, Astros 4 (AP)

The Phillies seem to be reviving after their slow start. Jimmy Rollins hit a leadoff homer and fell a double shy of the cycle, and Philadelphia had a season-high 20 hits in an 11-4 win over the Houston Astros on Monday night. Chase Utley connected for his fourth home run, a drive that cleared the […]
