Astros call up Pence, bench Burke (AP)
The Houston Astros called up outfielder Hunter Pence from Triple-A Round Rock and benched Chris Burke on Friday night after a loss to Milwaukee. The 24-year-old Pence was batting .341 with three homers and 19 RBIs through 22 games with Round Rock. Pence went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored on Friday night.

Brewers 4, Astros 1 (AP)
J.J. Hardy’s two-run double off Roy Oswalt capped a three-run seventh inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat Houston 4-1 on Friday night to hand the Astros their seventh consecutive loss. Johnny Estrada homered in the eighth off new Astros reliever Stephen Randolph, helping the Brewers win for the seventh time in nine games.
